When navigating Southern California shows, vehicles are usually parked in the order they arrive so that the show organizers can structure their event easily. Most car clubs arrive together so that results in a lot of the same vehicles being parked near each other for every show. Sometimes this makes it easy to spot changes that happen during the progression of a vehicle. Shane Gonzales has been working on his 1998 GMC Sonoma for a while now and I have seen the progress along the way. Shane reached a point where he feels it was time to get it featured before he goes even further down the path that will lead his truck to some extreme modifications. Once that transformation happens, we'll have it back for another feature shoot.   Shane's Sonoma sports a full air suspension performed by Art at GO-EZ Customs. When it comes to this body style truck, the parts available are astounding. Art started acquiring parts and the Sonoma was ready for it's first major operation. The truck was laid out using air bags, a step notch, a KP Components 6-link, 1/2 air lines, two 5-gallon tanks, and two Air-Zenith compressors. It was finished off with new wheel wells and a notch cover in the bed by Mike Bach. The truck is complimented by a set of 20-inch KMC Wheels up front and 22-inch wheels in the rear.

On the outside, his GMC kept it's factory color, for now. So Shane contacted Tom McWeeney who is the owner of the truck from our XXX Sled feature. Tom knows a thing or two about this style truck so Shane turned to him for some details that would help it stand out. Tom sprayed the bed with color matching Line-X but didn't stop there. Tom has been pin striping vehicles all over Southern California for a while now so he went crazy on Shane's Sonoma. Tom's artwork can be found on almost every area of the truck including the hood, interior, and even the engine compartment. Shane also added a few must-haves for smoothing out the look of a truck. A sunroof, smooth wiper cowl,  billet grille, GMC Envoy bumper, and roll pan were installed. The tailgate handle was removed and smoothed out as well.

The interior is not quite as "mild" as the exterior of Shane's Sonoma. The entire cab of the truck has been recreated using fiberglass. Mike Bach crafted an insane look for the interior that really blows away other trucks in Shane's show class. Tom's pin striping can be found throughout the interior which is a great addition to the suede/leather bucket seats and billet steering wheel. The Jensen flip up monitor and DVD player sends signal over to his amplifier and two 12-inch subwoofers.

Shane and Mike worked under the hood on color matching a few parts and switching out other parts with aesthetically pleasing replacements. He also added a polished air intake and Tom McWeeney pin striped several parts and the firewall.

Shane would like to thank his family for every thing they have done for him, Art at GO-EZ, Mike Bach, Tom McWeeney for all the pin striping, his girl Dolly, and his club Xtreme Lowz!
